    Learning Center
Opened in September of 1983 with a donation of the Carter-Thompson Family and expanded in 2013 through a generous gift from the Cheves Family, the Cheves Family Learning Center continues to improve the educational experience of students at Brookstone School.

Learning Differences

Research confirms that children learn in many different ways. Brookstone recognizes and celebrates that learning styles are as unique as each individual child. Understanding these differences is at the heart of the Learning Center mission and makes Brookstone effective in helping students develop their areas of weakness. Learning differences do not discriminate. Nearly 25% of school age children have ADD/ADHD or a reading disorder and about 15-20% of the US population has dyslexia. In light of this, the Learning Center offers solutions: heightened awareness, early intervention, remediation, and relationship building and support for both students and families. Please contact the Learning Center if you have any questions.
The mission of the Learning Center is to assist students of all grade levels in becoming successful, efficient, and independent learners.
We have compiled links to a variety of useful organizational tools, virtual enrichment opportunities, articles on common questions and concerns, and trusted websites. While these are usually family-friendly websites and collaborators, please always review podcast and video content for your family’s approval prior to use.
